Article I

The purpose of the Teen Sportfishing tournaments is to expose the Teen's with hands on experience of fishing and boating. The Teen's are rewarded for their efforts with trophies that are donated by local businesses and or sponsors of the Teen Sportfishing programs. Under no circumstance can a Teen receive cash for his or her winnings. Points are given to the participants according to their individual place finishes in the tournaments. The points are then totaled along with the classroom points earned to progress the Teen to the next level of competition. The state qualifying level tournament will consist of the top finishers of the qualifying events held at each county. A predetermined number of qualifiers at the County Championship will advance to the state championship. Again, the main goal is education through the captains, guides, tournament fishermen, moms, dads, etc, who volunteer their time and equipment to pass along their experience and morals to the next generation of fishermen.
